Update about the SafetySkills course library – Adobe Flash content has been fully retired
Adobe announced they will no longer be supporting Flash content as of December 31, 2020 and blocked any content from running in Flash on January 12, 2021. You can read more on Adobe’s blog here: End of Life for Adobe Flash.
How does this affect your SafetySkills LMS account?
Originally, SafetySkills courseware was built utilizing Adobe Flash content. In 2014, we made the switch to using HTML5 for all of our courseware content. At the time, certain browsers, such as Internet Explorer version 8 (IE8) did not support HTML5 content, so there were some courses that were manually left activated at some clients request to support those needs. The vast majority (roughly 99%) of the SafetySkills library was converted to HTML5 at that time. However, there were a handful of courses that were not rebuilt in HTML5 due to outdated regulations or were retired.
As of January 2021, we have identified that some accounts either had 1 or more Flash courses enabled or 1 or more retired courses still enabled. Because Adobe Flash is no longer supported by Adobe and will no longer be functional, we have replaced any Flash content and any retired courseware with updated course titles that best align. For the full list of courses that were updated with a new version please download this Excel file: SafetySkills Adobe Flash Retired and HTML5 Retired – Replacement Courses List
